Schedule: Full‑time, onsite
Position Overview:
Talon Nickel (USA) LLC is seeking an Exploration Field Technician to support mineral exploration activities based in L’Anse, Michigan. This is an entry-level, hands-on role focused on core handling, core cutting, core shed operations, and general labor support for exploration programs.
The Exploration Field Technician will assist geologists in the core shed and support the Project Coordinator with field activities. This role involves a variety of physical tasks and is well-suited for individuals looking to gain experience in the mineral exploration industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Shed Support
- Primary focus is cutting drill core using core saw equipment.
- Handle, move, and organize core boxes within the core shed.
- Label, stack, and store drill core in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the core facility.
Field & General Labor Support
- Assist the Project Coordinator with general field tasks as needed.
- Perform miscellaneous labor duties including material handling, site clean-up, and basic site support.
- Support movement of supplies, tools, and equipment between locations.
Equipment Operation
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and pickup trucks (as trained and qualified).
- Assist with basic maintenance and care of tools and equipment.
Health, Safety & Work Practices
- Follow all Company safety policies and procedures.
- Use proper safety equipment and maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in both field and core shed settings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to perform physical labor in indoors and outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in mining, geology, or mineral exploration.
- Experience in operating equipment such as forklifts or skid steers or willingness to learn.
- Any prior experience in labor, construction, or industrial work is helpful but not required.
