Position Summary

Talon Metals is seeking a results orientated Corporate/Commercial Lawyer to join a fast-paced dynamic team.

Reporting to the President, this is a broad generalist in-house position where you’ll be advising the business on a wide range of legal and compliance matters. A focus of this role will include working on Talon Metals’ public company reporting requirements and drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts. The role will also provide support on compliance and governance matters and deliver strategic advice on day-to-day legal matters.

You will be embedded in the company as a true business partner, and you should be someone who enjoys and has experience working closely to support a business. You should be comfortable navigating a fast-paced business environment and capable of hitting the ground running with sound judgment and commercial awareness.

The Requirements

  • Called to the Bar and a member in good standing in a Province of Canada
  • The ideal candidate will have 4 to 8 years of post-call experience, with a strong foundation in corporate/commercial law working in a law firm and/or in house.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with mining related experience and/or public company reporting experience.
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working and confident working at a senior level with other professional colleagues
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
  • Ability to advise management on risks across the business and strategies for mitigation.
  • Good judgment, integrity and attention to detail
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues
