The Opportunity

 

Talon Metals Corp is recruiting a Data Specialist to join the Tamarack team. The Tamarack Project is focused on developing high grade nickel mineralization to supply nickel for electric vehicle batteries. Applicants may reside near Tamarack or work remotely from other parts of the United States or Canada. Intermittent travel to site will be required.

  

What the role entails

 

The successful candidate will report to the Data Manager to develop, administer, and support the environmental and geoscientific observation databases used to capture, store and share data with diverse internal and external stakeholders. A keen eye for detail, passion for creating cross-functional dataflows that accommodate the needs of diverse disciplines, and a strong work history and passion for the mining/exploration industry will be key in the success of this position.

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

  • Take ownership of a dynamic, fit-for-purpose environmental and geoscientific data management database within a collaborative team environment. 
  • Support the import and export of geoscientific data into/out of the geoscientific data management database, with an eye towards process optimization and automation.
  • Drive reporting on the database and continual improvement of the data capture, and visualization pipeline.
  • Provide guidance and high-end expertise in designing, architecting, and developing the analytics and intelligence ecosystem.

  

 

The ideal candidate will possess, or demonstrate the ability to quickly develop, the following capabilities: 

 

  • Relevant geoscientific or technical knowledge:
    • Managing SQL databases (acQuire, EQuIS)
    • Managing geoscientific data, with an understanding of geoscientific data capture, especially utilizing acQuire.
    • Managing geospatial data using ESRI software including ArcGIS Pro and Field Maps including supporting field teams in the use of the dataset.
  • Administrating/managing Office365 applications would be favorable. Basic experience using O365 tools a requirement.
  • Proven technical capability to deliver database objects to meet the demands of an evolving environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • A self-motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high quality work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven team player.
  • Strong communication skills, both written, graphic (flowcharts), and verbal.
